ANZAC DAY 25 April, 2015
The band will again be playing an important role at this the 100 Anniversary Year of ANZAC's. The band has a long and proud history of honouring the memory of the brave men and women from Australia & New Zealand who have served their countries over many wars and conflicts.
This year, as the senior State Band, we will again be taking a lead role in the Scottish Act of Remembrance Parade that follows directly after the end of the Main March in George Street, Sydney around 12MD. As such, our Pipe Major - Adam Wishart will be the Senior Pipe Major for the Massed Bands contingent that will March to the Martin Place Cenotaph. A spearhead of Drum Majors will form part of the spectacle which d will be selected and under the command of our Drum Major - Clarrie Lemme. The Bass Drummer of NSW Police Pipe Band – Bronwyn Martin, has been appointed as the controlling/Senior Bass Drummer for this parade with Drum Sergeant Pete Kelly as a Leading Snare drummer.
The Massed Pipes and Drums will play the Lament ‘Flowers of the Forest’ with wreaths being laid in honour of Fallen and Departed Comrades.
